DLSS 5 system requirements: three different paths

“DLSS 5 requirements” can mean an official game feature, the local DLSS5 Studio workflow, or the browser converter. Read the path you actually plan to use.

Separate official DLSS 5 game requirements from DLSS5 Studio local requirements and the free browser converter path.

Official game path

NVIDIA’s September FAQ names RTX 50 Series GPUs and laptops for the current DLSS 5 debut, plus GeForce NOW Ultimate streaming from RTX 5080 rigs.

RTX 40 plan (checked 2026-10-11)

The FAQ says NVIDIA plans to work on expanding official support to GeForce RTX 40 Series after RTX 50 performance is more fully tuned. This is a future plan, not current compatibility.

Local Studio path

Windows 10 (1909 or newer, 64-bit) or Windows 11; An NVIDIA RTX GPU — RTX 20 series or newer; 8 GB minimum; 16 GB recommended for 1080p and 4K video; About 3 GB free — the portable folder is roughly 1.1 GB unpacked.

Browser path

The online converter is the fallback when a local RTX workflow does not fit the machine; it does not require a local NVIDIA runtime.
